Why purchase Travel Insurance?

Travel insurance provides cover for the unexpected events that may disrupt your travel arrangements. Whilst, medical and ancillary expenses are not covered by Domestic travel insurance (these are often covered by Medicare or your private health fund), a comprehensive domestic travel insurance policy should include cover for forfeited prepaid travel arrangements, additional expenses incurred as a result of an illness or injury or delays or alterations in the itinerary beyond the control of the carrier (in this case our coach company) and the loss, theft or damage of luggage. Make sure to check the Product Disclosure Statement & Policy Wording of any travel insurance you purchase to ensure it provides comprehensive cover.

If you have not already purchased travel insurance, we can provide you with a quote for SureSave Travel Insurance. The price for comprehensive travel insurance varies based on the length of your trip your age and coverage for any pre-existing medical conditions. Please call us for a quote.

Know what you are getting with your Suresave Travel Insurance. Please read the Suresave travel insurance Product Disclosure Statement and Policy Wording for details of the full terms and conditions of your policy.

The following is just a summary of some common questions that we have been asked about travel insurance. If you have a specific question, please contact us.

When should I apply for cover?

To make the most of your travel insurance, you might like to purchase your policy when you book your trip, as cancellation coverage starts as soon as you have bought the policy. Remember that our cancellation fee starts at $50 per person and cancellation fees become higher 60 days prior to departure.

What is the Excess?

If you do have to claim on your travel insurance policy, there will be an excess per claim. (No excess-Domestic travel) This means that if your claim is successful, Suresave will reimburse you for the full cost of your loss, less the excess (it works just like car insurance). The excess amount can be removed on some policies by paying an additional premium.

Do I have to pay extra if I am over 70 years?

Yes, the premiums do increase for travellers over 70 years of age. An extra premium may also apply to cover some Pre Existing medical conditions.

Is Insurance Cover Automatic if I am over 70?

Yes, however travellers 81 years and over must undergo an over-the-phone medical assessment and receive approval before a policy can be issued. If you require coverage for pre-existing medical conditions, please call SureSave on 1300 763 872.

What is an Existing Medical Condition?

A pre-existing medical condition means:

a. Any chronic or currently ongoing medical or dental condition of which you are aware or any complication related to any such chronic or current condition; or

b. Any medical or dental condition, or related complication, the symptoms of which you are currently aware; or

c. A medical or dental condition that is currently being investigated or treated, or has been investigated or treated in the 90 days prior to the issue of the Certificate of Insurance, by a health professional (including dentist or chiropractor or physiotherapist); or

d. Any medical condition, current ongoing or experienced at any time in the past, involving your back, neck, brain, heart, circulatory system, respiratory system or cancer; or

e. Any condition for which you take prescribed medicine; or

f. Any condition for which you have had surgery, or any complication arising from any surgery you have at any time had for any reason; or

g. Any condition for which you see a medical specialist. Pregnancy (Pregnancy cover is explained on page 24).The definition applies to you, your travelling party, a close relative and any other person.

What about if one of my family is ill, and I am worried about having to cancel my tour to look after them?

You can make a claim for cancellation or rearrangement costs if you have to cancel your trip due to the hospitalisation of a close relative. Please note that benefit limits are reduced if the hospitalisation is related to a pre-existing medical condition.

How do I obtain coverage for my Pre-existing Medical Condition?

SureSave provides coverage for 44 pre-existing medical conditions automatically, provided certain criteria is met. Other specific conditions are excluded from coverage. Any other conditions can be assessed for coverage by TravelClear, SureSave's medical assessment team, and an additional premium paid if cover is accepted. If you require coverage for pre-existing medical conditions, please call SureSave on 1300 763 872. It's quick and easy to get.  No forms.  No medical certificates.  For most people it just takes one phone call to arrange cover.

If my or my partners existing medical condition attracts a loading, do we have to pay to cover both of us, even if only one of us has the existing medical condition?

If you and/or your partner require coverage for pre-existing medical conditions, you should take out individual policies so they can be assessed and priced accordingly.
