Robert’s Famous Home Made Morning Teas - now available at Woody’s

Robert’s famous home made morning teas are one of the most enjoyable parts of a Northern Highland Travel tour, unique to our company. No other company offers you the range and quality of home made morning teas, whether they are served onsite at Woody’s Café & Conference Centre on the first or last day of your tour, or in a local park while you are on tour to enable you to get out and explore the town, without having to queue up at the local takeaway shop.  The secret is that if we have a picnic lunch you usually get another chance to sample one of Robert’s famous home made morning teas!

Guests speak fondly of Northern Highland Travel’s caramel slice, profiteroles, rock cakes, and afghans, to name just a few.  In fact, people googling recipes for caramel slice is one of the ways that people find out about our tours!!!  We have put some of the most requested recipes below and there is a recipe booklet which you can download here.

We cater for special dietary requirements, including allergies, diabetes, coeliac intolerance, lactose intolerance, and vegetarians.  Please note that we do cook tree nuts in our kitchen.  Just let us know what your special dietary requirements are and we do the rest, including communicating them to the hotels and restaurants where you will stay on tour to ensure that you can eat food which will be good for your health, as well as your taste buds!

Our coaches have specially designed catering facilities, including refrigerators, hot water urns, cold water, insulated stainless steel mugs, that keep your drink warm, but don’t burn your hands. We save up to 12,000 disposable cups, using these reusable cups, which is great news for the environment!

Chef Anthony Gilbert, now manages Woody’s Café & Conference Centre, where all our treats are baked, fresh for your tour.  Anthony’s specialty is his cake making.  We all look forward to seeing the creative ideas he comes up with.  Anthony completed his apprenticeship when Robert was the chef at the Walcha Motel back in 1993, then managed the Dungog RSL Restaurant, and owned his own café in East Maitland for a number of years.  It has been great to have him back on board. 

Woody’s Café & Conference Centre is a full commercial cooking facility.  With two rooms that convert into a large room, an outdoor verandah area, and a takeaway café, we are able to assist with offsite and onsite catering for a dinners, corporate events, fundraising and social events, as well as parties.  If you would like more information about this, please click on this link: Woodys cafe

Please Note: Robert gives all his recipes in grams, as volume sizes can change depending on settling, etc. If you don't have a fan forced oven, add about 20 degrees and 2 minutes to your oven.
